Principal Officer Zoja Bazarnic talking to pupils at Strathkinnes Primary School


Principal Officer Zoja Bazarnic visited Strathkinness Primary School in Fife to meet with students currently studying the United States. PO Bazarnic spoke with all four classes at the school, which is in a rural village in Fife and has 70 students.
PO Bazarnic answered a wide range of questions about the United States, ranging from the origin of the American Civil War to what is popular cuisine in America. PO Bazarnic was impressed with the students’ knowledge of the U.S. and was thrilled to share her own experiences as an American.

PO Bazarnic gives International Affairs lecture at Heriot Watt University

Principal Officer Zoja Bazarnic was guest lecturer to final year undergraduate and post-graduate International Affairs students at Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh.
PO Bazarnic spoke about the role of the U.S. in today’s world, emphasizing the importance of the United States as a Super-Partner. Students asked a range of foreign policy questions during the lively Q & A.

Scotland Goes Global Project

The NUS Scotland and the Scottish Government launched their Year of Study Abroad with the "Scotland Goes Global Project", which seeks to encourage Scottish students to study abroad.
Approximately 80 secondary school students attended the event, which featured quizzes, cultural entertainment, and information from various countries about study abroad opportunities. The U.S. Consulate General in Edinburgh, with the participation of Fulbright Scholar Alex Maxwell held a stall at the event, promoting the benefits of studying in the United States.

Fulbright-Tulliallan Awareness Event

Inaugural Fulbright-Tulliallan Awareness Event, at the Scottish Police College Tulliallan Castle in Fife.

Hosted the first annual Fulbright-Tulliallan Awareness Event to promote the Fulbright Police Research Awards to potential applicants. The event was a collaboration between the U.S.-UK Fulbright Commission and the Scottish Police College.

Principal Officer Zoja Bazarnic encouraged attendees to apply and to learn more about research by Fulbright Police and Scholar Alumni. PO Bazarnic also met with U.S.-UK Fulbright Commission Executive Director Penny Egan to discuss ways of promoting the Fulbright educational exchange program in Scotland.

Children of 9/11 Summer Camp event, Edinburgh’s Telford College
Edinburgh’s Telford College welcomed students from the United States as part of this year’s 9/11 UK summer camp. The camp is organized by the British Council with involvement from America’s Camp. All of the students attending the summer camp endured the death or serious injury of a relative in the terrorist attack of September 11, 2001.
Principal Officer Zoja Bazarnic welcomed the students to Scotland and the UK and encouraged them to explore the links between the U.S. and Scotland. As part of the summer camp, the students visited different areas of the UK and were given a taste of what it is like to study in the UK.
